This Craftsman living and dining room is expanded with a contemporary interpretation that balances rich architectural character with modern furnishings, sculptural forms, and a bold, nature-inspired palette.

Client Goals

Modernize the home while respecting its Craftsman architecture. Create inviting spaces for entertaining and everyday living. Introduce bold color without overwhelming the historic character.

Design Response

Deep green walls establish a dramatic backdrop for warm walnut furniture, black stone, and brass accents. Curved furnishings, natural materials, and abstract artwork soften the home's traditional architecture while creating a refined, contemporary atmosphere.

Defining Features

Monochromatic green walls, trim, and ceiling emphasize the original millwork. Curved charcoal sofa paired with sculptural walnut and black leather furnishings. Walnut dining table with a black glass top and coordinating walnut dining chairs. Black stone fireplace creates a bold architectural focal point.
