Modern wall niches with objects

Project description

A contemporary dining room that balances bold materiality with understated elegance through a restrained palette of olive green, black, brass, and warm neutrals. A richly textured velvet feature wall creates depth behind sculptural furnishings, while natural materials and soft organic forms bring warmth and sophistication to an otherwise minimal architectural space.

Client Goals

Create a formal dining room that feels warm, contemporary, and welcoming. Introduce rich color without overwhelming the space. Emphasize natural materials and tactile finishes. Design a timeless space equally suited for entertaining and everyday use.

Design Response

An olive green velvet feature wall anchors the room and provides a dramatic backdrop for a black fluted sideboard and oversized abstract artwork. A smoked black glass dining table supported by monolithic marble bases introduces a sense of lightness while maintaining visual weight through expressive stone. White boucle dining chairs soften the composition with texture, while aged brass lighting, sculptural accessories, and a mature rubber tree add warmth, scale, and organic contrast throughout the space.
